panic attack zoloft
Which is better for anxiety and panic attack Zoloft or Lexapro?

Hello I suffer from anxiety and experience panic attacks and i have been prescribed zoloft but heard about lexapro is for anxiety also does anyone know which is better for just the anxiety that i have???Thanks oh i also take Xanex

I have been taking Zoloft for about 2 weeks now and this is the first time in a few years that I was able to take something like this and actually have it work. I have been on 6 different antidepressants and about 12 mood stabilizers and had bad reactions to them all. But finally the Zoloft has taken the edge off my anxiety. I also have Xanax but take it sparingly and only when I really need it. You said you had the scrip but you never said whether or not you were taking it or for how long you had been taking it. I took Lexapro and had one of the worst reactions that I have ever had on any of the meds, took me over 3 days to recover once I stopped taking it. You also never said why you would want to change meds. I always try to stick with the meds for a few weeks unless the side effects have become intolerable. Most meds will have uncomfortable side effects which often disappear after a period of time. I still have a little nausea and light headedness with the Zoloft but everyday it is a little better. Each person has their own chemical make up that affects how medications affect them so to say one is better than the other for one person may not be true for you. Are you getting your scrip from a general doctor or from a psychiatrist? Beware of doctors who write scrips for psych drugs. Psychiatrists often frown on regular doctors trying to treat mental illnesses. Good Luck and talk to your doc.

panic attack lyrics
Daughter is going bald and extremely depressed, how can I help her handle this?

She is 35 and always prided herself on her long, thick hair. Are there any of you out there who at that age got the same diagnosis who would be willing to share how I can best support her? Any web sites, poems or lyrics that you found especially helpful? She is a Christian, but says dealing with it on a “human” level is causing anxiety, almost like panic attacks and depression. I’d appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks
Sorry, she is depressed over the diagnosis of going bald. Hope that clears it up.

You could help her come up with hair styles that hide the signs of thinning hair. She might consider using Rogaine for Women. Many people have reported good results. It would be wisest for her to consult her doctor about this problem. There are medical interventions which can help a great deal.
Here’s Rogaine’s website where you can get more info:

anxiety medication
Anxiety medication?

I have had problems with pretty severe social anxiety for years. I am in treatment now for an eating disorder, which I mostly used to manage my anxiety. I have made tremendous progress through exposure therapy, but I’m still wondering whether or not I should take medication. It has been recommended to me, but not really pushed by my therapist.

Does anyone have any experiences with anxiety meds? Do you think I should be taking them or is it better to do this through other means (i.e. exposure therapy/meditation etc)?

Thanks!

it depends on the severity of the anxiety. I don’t think any kind of meditation can help severe anxiety; it would only help temporarily and for more mild forms of it. I have an anxiety disorder and I take Xanax for it and it works great. But it’s also very addicting. There are other anti-anxiety meds that aren’t addicting like Ativan and Buspirone, but I’ve found that those don’t work for me NEARLY as well as the Xanax. If you do start taking xanax, take the lowest dose unless you absolutely have to take more….The higher dosage you take, the more you’re likely to become dependent on it. Hope this helps! Good Luck :)

anxiety disorder treatment without medication
Can you have generalized anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder without treatment?

How can it be possible for one to reduce and most normal live without professional help with the pros? Juro drug makes absolutely worse for me. The worst was the Paxil, only helped with compulsuions and obsessions. I notice that part in my hobbies and find things I like / want to do that keeps me much more relaxed, satisfied and happy. I'm not obsessed or near compulsions as I had, but I'm not so sure about the Effexor. There are too many side effects headaches and really get to me. I'm considering going off the medication.

With a bit of clutter, open communication is the first step in recovery. Be honest with your doctor. Do not stop taking your medication without consulting your doctor. Tell him what concerns you (ie, headaches and facial effects). There are things you can do to minimize side effects, and if they continue to harass, There are other drugs to treat that often are very helpful. If you do not like what your doctor has to say after you tell them how you feel, not only will your medications. Tell the doctor that you disagree with them and tell them why. Then, go get a second opinion from another doctor. Often there are many therapies available and a different approach from another doctor may work better for you. Is your treatment and you are in charge. Working with a doctor to listen and respect their decisions about therapy and medication. I hope you feel better soon!

panic attack song download

Several months ago, I almost had a heart attack. Not really, but I felt like I was going to have one when my hard drive crashed and my music collection (worth thousands of dollars) went with him.

I was a little relieved when I thought about the fact that most of my music was in my iPod's hard drive Touch. As soon as I got my new computer, I downloaded iTunes and planned to re-download my music to new computer. I was surprised when I learned that iTunes does not have the option to sync my iPod to iTunes. iTunes only allowed me to transfer data in a way – In your iTunes library onto iPod and not the setback. That was simply not an option and I'm sure you can understand.

No doubt that was frustrated beyond belief at this time because seriously thought I could lose all of my music. Actually contemplating purchasing a new iPod, so it would never sync the old one, but eventually thought better of it.

After a long day period of reflection, I began researching other options. I called some local boys to repair equipment. They had no value. I made a phone call to the computer store where I bought my PC and which were not helpful either.

Then I turned to my friend, Yahoo (yes, I'm one of the few people out there who actually prefer Yahoo to Google). I quickly read a couple of tutorials to transfer music back to a computer. Despite that gave me hope, I was just too afraid to try any technique, because I thought it would ruin everything.

I found the solution when I discovered a software program called Lenogo iPod to PC Transfer. It was exactly what I wanted. A demo version free even possible for me to try before you buy anything. Without a moment's thought, I downloaded the demo version, installed on my computer and it worked.

After that, connect the USB cable from my iPod Touch to the PC. Within Lenogo interface, I was able to see all songs, playlists and even videos on my iPod. Next I selected a new folder on the desktop where I wanted to copy my songs and click the button to start the transfer. In 15 to 20 minutes, I was done. All data was on my computer and ready to use.

My next step was to run iTunes and import the songs and playlists back to iTunes library then sync it with my iPod. It was truly a piece of cake. If you are in a similar position, do not panic. All is not lost!

anxiety and depression treatment centers

People are withdrawing from alcohol or drugs?

go to treatment centers .. sometimes for months. However, those who are being withdrawn from medications for depression and / or anxiety are expected to continue their normal life, work, work as if everything was normal. When people withdrawal of antidepressants, withdrawal symptoms horrible symptoms, often for months. Should not it also be admitted into a treatment center or hospital until they can function normally? If people are admitted to the hospital without a referral from your doctor, who could be in danger of losing his job. It is routine to offer the patient a referral to a hospital or rehabilitation center for the revocation of antidepressants.

Doctors are supposed to have people in your fight against anxiety or antidepressant very gradually to reduce the possibility of withdrawal. The patient should be closely monitored by their healthcare provider while in the drug, when weaning off them, and when totally out of them. A doctor is not doing its job if this control is stopped too soon. If the caregiver health sees the patient enough, he or she knows that the patient has withdrawal problems, and we must do something to remedy that situation. Rehabilitation could be indicated in some patients and the physician must see that I understand. Many people in detox and rehabs are in the anti-anxiety drugs like Xanax to take or Valium – some even pain pills. Many of the abuse of substances rather than taken as prescribed, but some are so bad if they took them as prescribed. You made an excellent point and I hope it is read by people in the mental health field.

panic attack on planes

panic attack on planes

Copyright (c) 2009 Riley West I remember the first time I had a panic attack. My life was a mess and not the same again until I got a handle on it and it went away. Yes, it can go away. For me the panic attacks lasted several years, about 5 or 6. I fought them every way I could think of including alcohol, running, meditating, and various other things. When I think back it looks like panic attacks couldn’t possibly have entered my life. I was a risk taker. I was a boxer. I was an airplane pilot. I was a horseman for years in Montana. I still ride motorcycles! I was never bullied and I wasn’t intimidated. No one ever picked on me and I sure as heck wasn’t a sissy. I went through High School in Montana and went into college there, too. I spent several great years chasing degrees and women and married a real sweetheart. I had been nervous a time or two, but I had never experienced anything like a panic attack. At 30 years of age I was 6′2″ and 190 lbs. I was in great shape! The panic attacks struck suddenly, seemingly from nowhere. By that time owned my own businesses for 6 years. I was at a convention in L.A. and a friend drove me to LAX so I could go back to Oregon, the rugged Northwest and my family. I was sitting in the waiting area watching the incredible variety of people you see at LAX when I heard the boarding call. At this time I had been an aircraft pilot for 6 years and had my own aircraft. I should have flown it down but it was cheaper and much faster to take the jet. I got in line. We started moving toward the tunnel to board the plane when something “went off” in my stomach. I was suddenly VERY uneasy. Within seconds I wanted to run but I thought I was crazy AND I didn’t want anyone else to know. Somehow I got on that plane. By now the panic attack was in full bloom. I was pouring sweat. I was shaking. I was afraid…but not afraid of something that made sense. I really felt like I could die right there, right then. The fear was immense and made me feel crazy because, as near as I could tell, there was no reason for this. Something was wrong with me! I was doing fine an hour ago and now I’m a basket case. I was afraid I’d have to panic further and demand they land and let me off. I wanted to run. I sat there, in my window seat, looking out at the scenery, like I used to love to do, but now all I had were legions of confused, evil feeling ideas swirling around inside my head. I had to keep them in there. I couldn’t let anybody know! When the Flight attendants approached me I didn’t look up and just shook my head. That was the longest flight of my life even though it was less than two hours. I even had thoughts of jumping out of the plane. I thought about my family, my wife, and my kids. I tried to force myself to only think about positive things and, about an hour and a half after the panic attack started, it started to fade…slowly. I was so happy and relieved. I began to worry that it would return! Up, down, the whole rest of the flight. When I got on the ground I went straight to the bar and drank a double of whisky. I grabbed my bags and went out to the car. I was thinking things like “What the hell was that!” Then, suddenly, it tried to come back! So I stuffed it. When I got home I didn’t tell my wife about it. In the morning everything looked OK and I let it ride. Until the panic attacks returned. I couldn’t get onto an elevator. I couldn’t meet with business associates in a closed room. I made a LOT of excuses. The next years were hard to get through. I tried everything I could. I knew what they were now, but I didn’t know how to get rid of them, until I fell across a book that I can’t recall the name of. I drove my little sports car to a spot down by the river and read the book. When I read a description of a person’s panic attack, it made me cry. It had several therapies, mostly mind work and meditating, and some phrases to repeat. It took a while but I felt immediate partial relief and encouragement. The panic attacks were the scariest things I had ever dealt with up till then and the idea of them coming back was chilling. But they never did. Later, I found out that once you get these things to leave you can get rid of them at will. Once you are to that point, the fear of the attacks returning loses it’s power and you can start living a full life again. You’ll be OK…don’t worry!
