I’m 17 going on 18 in the fall, and I feel I have some type of anxiety disorder. You need a prescription for anxiety medications. But you can get it from your general physician. Just say you want to go to the doctor. You don’t have to see a psychiatrist. Your parents are going to know if you go to the doctor and use their insurance, so you might as well tell them.

I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression when he was 11. From then I tried Prozac, Prozac and lithium together, and Lamictal. All have either made me feel like a zombie with no emotions, or have given me some side effects not untolerable I can bear. (Tremors, feeling as if I have the flu, NO sex drive, etc) recently returned to my doctor and feel like he just gave me the following medication on the list. (Effexor) I went online and read some forums about this drug and now I'm scared sh ** less to take this demon drug. I hate the fact I have to take medication in the first place, but my anxiety is the worst in me. What has worked best for you and what are its side effects?! What suggests you stay away from? My husband suffers from PTSD. He has nightmares / night terrors almost every nights that you wake up shivering and wet her bed. Guide back to bed and wait until the event ends. ((((Night terrors usually occur fifteen minutes to an hour later bedtime. The longer the person is in NREM (stages before REM) before it reaches the night of terror, the more petrified it will be when it occurs. )))) Nightmare: Do not wake when you notice is having a nightmare. I do not think anyone has ever suggested that is a disability – How could it be? Having anxiety before a test is perfectly normal – almost everyone gets it. You can be reduced by adequate preparation, slow breathing and reading the questions carefully.

PHOBIAS AND ANXIETY! Give me your Opinion on Biofeedback and CBT?
I am going to see a therapist/psychologist next week for a specific phobia and anxiety she said I would be a good candidate for Biofeedback and CBT I’ve done alot research on CBT and some on Biofeedback but you know there is no better research then hearing from those who have been through it. P.S I have also been doing Lucinda Bassett’s Program Attacking Anxiety and Depression it’s pretty good. Has anyone completed the program? And how has it worked for you?
First, let me congratulate you on getting help for your phobia. For me that first step was the most difficult. I haven’t gone through biofeedback, but I was in CBT for a period of time. It was effective for me in reducing the fear and managing it better. (I suffer from anxiety and agoraphobia was my most crippling symptom.) However, it was not the solution to my problem. For me, CBT helped me to manage the fears, but not to address their root causes.
Thus, I think that it is extremely useful, especially if your phobia prevents you from doing daily (or common) activities; but (if you have a similar experience as me) it will not eliminate your phobia, but will help you manage it. I think it is best in conjunction with other forms of treatment.
Hopefully, the combination of Lucinda Bassett’s program, CBT, and Biofeedback (if you decided to do both of those last two) will be enough to address both the everyday problems your phobia causes as well as its root causes.

I was wondering if I have the symptoms of an anxiety attack?
I’ve been really stressed out lately but I’ve never experienced this before, and it’s happened in the middle of Crate&Barrel without notice and other places as well.
Symptoms: I felt almost apathetic, and I got light headed almost sedate when walking around the store, and when my husband asked me which item I wanted to buy I got shooting pains up my left side of my torso, up my neck, and my breathing became restricted. I sat down, and took deep breaths, but I felt almost zero emotion at that point for what was being said.
Yeah certainly could well be, sounds like it. I get them almost everyday unfortuantely, as I did nothing about them when they started years ago (didnt know what they were and wasnt diagnosed correctly). I know what your saying. Don’t panic though (easier said then done), no one ever died or suffered any physical injury from an anxiety attack, just go to a doctor.
