anxiety disorders in children symptoms
Thesis Statement for the research on generalized anxiety disorder?

my scheme: introduction GAD causes symptoms in children treatment – the treatment of self-help – professional help treatment – AWARE (professional tactical aid) treatment – medication closing thanks … id really appreciate it.

That's nice. I guess its also close to conclusions when considering the appropriateness and effectiveness of different treatments in different patients over way. Oh, you might want to hav ea section, before the symptoms, the history of GAD. It is a relatively new classification of something that should have been recognized as anything before, I think. So what was once the life-GAD? I hope what I see, "I'm getting.

anxiety medications side effects
When SSRIs are giving more side effects than relief (social anxiety)?

Hi. I have three questions:
1.Is it worth trying another SSRI if three types [seroxat, prozac, effexor] have given too many side effects?
2.Are there other medications for social anxiety other than SSRIs? Are these generally worse?
3. Do people with social anxiety generally need to take medication forever?
Thanks

Hello. I have had severe anxiety for more than 16 years. I know how miserable you must feel. I have tried sooo many meds. I was on Zoloft, Effexor, etc. You name it and it has probably been prescribed to me. I got very little relief from the SSRI’s. I gained alot of weight, spent alot of money, ans wasted alot of time taking them. I cant say that they wont help you because everyone is different. In my case they just have never helped. Now I am taking Xanax as needed. Seriously, it has helped me more than anything else I have ever tried. It can stop an anxiety attack in its tracks if taken when you feel the attack coming on. It has really been a godsend for me.

Your question #1 – Yes, you may possibly find one that works for you. Dont give up yet.

Your question #2 – Yes – Benzo’s such as Xanax. I recommend you talking toyour doctor about letting you try a small dosage like maybe .25 mg. (that’s all I take)

For your question #3 – It’s impossible to say. I have been told by a couple of doctors that I would probably have to take something from now on for my anxiety. That thought used to scare me but it doesn’t anymore. I would rather feel good than not, so if that requires me taking meds – I guess I will take them.

Good luck to you. I hope you can overcome the anxiety or find the right med that helps you. If you ever want to chat with someone who understands what you are going through just send me a message through here and I will give you my email address and/or yahoo messenger id.

Where do i get help for depression in Houston,Texas?

I suffer from depression since my early teens. Im currently 22 and have been depression free for about 4 1/2 years. I was hospitalized in a mental center twice due to suicidal attempts and diagnosed with severe major depression. I always refuse medication or any kind of therapy. Im currently feeling very much like i did a few years back. Except this time with extreme anxiety. Where can I get help in Houston,Texas without paying the high price for therapy? Stressful events have caused me to feel this way! I’m also thinking about taking alternative treatments. As long as depression remains a thing of the past for good!

anxiety treatment during pregnancy

April 23rd, 2010 admin No comments

Pregnancy and antidepressants? Input please?

I have been on antidepressants for 9 months now due to anxiety and depression. My condition has improved SO much from treatment but my doc recommens I stay on the meds for up to 3 years to prevent relapse. My husband and I are hoping to get pregnant soon, though we haven’t started trying yet. They are safe to take during pregnancy but I was just wondering if anyone on here has done it before and how it effected your emotional state or if it caused any depression/anxiety symptoms to worsen? I’m just worried about initiating a relapse or taking a step backwards with my mental health. I feel ready but I know sometimes the mind takes a long time to recover from depression and anxiety.

I know how difficult depression is…i’ve battled it all my life. I was on an antidepressant called Cipralex when I found out that I was pregnant…this happened in March…I called my therapist and she told me to stop it right away….my pregnancy wasn’t planned….i didn’t quit cold turkey….i did quit the proper way…and i felt fine!! I am excited about the baby…i get emotionally overwhelmed every now and then, but every pregnant woman does :) its different for everyone. and each medication is different. first thing to do is discuss it with your doctor…tell ur doc u want to get pregnant and maybe the medication u are on is safe for pregnancy!! and if not, then he can switch u before u get pregnant. i am actually worried about the post-natal depression….i hope i don’t get it….up till now, touch wood, i am fine. and so should u be :) stay strong. stay positive.

This hilarious 1943 film attempts to teach the public about poison gas attacks on American soil. While discussing poison gas effects on people and World War 2 propaganda, the film promotes the idea that panic and fear are more dangerous than the gas itself (wait, which causes death?) and that preparation is the key to survival. The film explains that preparing for a military attack on America is e...

panic attack breathing exercises
do slow controlled breathing exercises help when having a panic attack?

Ive read that when people have a panic attack they generally hyperventilate whether they realise it or not, this leads them to feeling dizzy and faint. what are some good breathing patterns that work for you?thanks in advance

Yes; view the techniques for control of anxiety/panic attacks, in section 8, at ezy build, below. Begin, on this first occasion, only, by holding your breath for 5, or 10 seconds: this will give you the confidence to realise that YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR BREATHING, but not pass out, or die (your autonomic nervous system resumes breathing, if you become unconscious). Advice from a published psychiatrist on controlled breathing: (1.) Get a clock, or watch with a second timer. (2.) Practise for 5 minutes, 4 times daily, until proficient. (3.) Take a small breath in, and hold it, for 6 seconds. (4.) Think to yourself: “RELAX”, just before breathing out. (5.) Try to feel a sense of releasing tension, as you breathe out. (6.) Breathe in for 3 seconds, then out, for 3 seconds. Try to make your breathing very smooth, and light, as you breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth, or nose. (7.) For the next minute, continue to breathe in, and out, every 3 seconds. (8.) Go back to step 3, at the end of the minute, and proceed through to step 7, doing this for 5 minutes. Use this at the very first sign of a panic attack starting, or any time you feel anxious, or tense. Similar, but simpler advice, from a clinical psychologist is to breathe in to the count of 3: (one thousand one; one thousand two; one thousand three) each takes around a second to say to yourself, in your mind. Then breathe out to the count of 3. Repeat, until it begins to take effect. Understand panic attacks, and what triggers them, in your life (if it is unresolved anxiety, or stress, see sections 6, [page N first - main anxiety post; try the free CBT & hypnotherapy] or 42, [page i first] respectively).

The paper bag method also works for most people, but is not suited to all circumstances, such as driving, or playing sport. Another alternative is psychotherapy, to address its fundamental cause, which is usually anxiety; read section 1, and examine the http://1-800-therapist.com/ & http://www.metanoia.org/choose/ websites, and use the locators to find a therapist, (and phone book, but only if necessary). I used to suffer from panic attacks, until I questioned what had changed in my life, at, or just before that time, to trigger them, which is enough for some people. Visualise as vividly as possible, a large, red, flashing, “STOP!” sign, and/or possibly a stern faced person wagging an index finger at you in a negative manner, then say to yourself as forcefully as you can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: “I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!” You may want to us either: “ruse”, “ploy”, “game”, or “trick”, instead of “tactic”. It usually takes 30 – 40 repetitions, for most people, to establish a new habit. I also suggest that you learn, then practise the controlled breathing technique, until competent, then employ it, at the very first sign of a panic attack.

Practice one of the relaxation methods in sections 11, 2, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising – saying it to yourself in your mind). Sections 53, and 2, 2.q and 2.o at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: “Even though I sometimes suffer from panic attacks, I deeply and completely accept myself.” Note: the controlled breathing only helps with the symptoms (as do medications/herbal remedies): you need to address the underlying cause, which requires some form of therapy, and Cognitive Behavio(u)ral Therapy has been shown to be effective. Imagine that the cause of your panic; your anxieties, fears, your self doubts, self recriminations, all the agonizing “I’m-so-Stupids”; every painful “I-can’t-do-it” are huge raging, hurtful bulls snorting and charging at you. You see them coming at you and you hold out your red matador’s cape at arms length and simply let them charge right by.

anxiety symptoms throat
How do I stop the sensations I get from anxiety?

The only reoson I have anxiety is because I worry that I will have that choking feeling in my left side of my throat and I worry that I will gag in public. That only fear is responsible for all the other symptoms I have. So how dO I stop that choking feeling I get? I prefer not to use medication also.

WELL IM NO CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST, BUT I WOULD SAY THAT IT STARTS WITH HOW YOU THINK AND HOW YOU FEEL, TRY TO GET OVER THE SCAREDNESS ( I KNOW THATS NOT A WORD) AND WHO CARES WHAT OTHER PPL THINK CUZ IF THEY ARE WORTH YOUR TIME, THEY WONT JUDGE YOU

anxiety in children treatment
Food alelrgies / intolerance symptoms in preschoolers? Fetid breath, ADHD, Intattentiveness, behavior, etc.

Someone If you have suggestions for these symptoms could be a food intolerance / allergy: have a child 4 years of age who has had these symptoms since For almost 3 years and have seen specialist after specialist, but have managed the unfinished "ADHD, Asperger Trends" Nobody has any idea why are happening and I'm not sure what else to try (test request, the possible causes, etc..) Your symptoms: ADHD – Yes, he has symptoms of anxiety Bad breath / very strong smell of urine inattention Bad (speaking you need a one-on-one assistant) Delayed behavioral speech sensory integration problems (Search stimulus, etc.) I had a friend ask me to get him tested for food allergies, but I have a better idea of what others thought before diving in (our insurance does not cover any health food treatments). Maybe it's not just food allergies, but could cause an allergy underlying their problems worse?? Thanks for your thoughts. What do you think?

My son was showing signs of Asperger syndrome and ADHD. Not the same as his son and were milder, but enough for me to be worried. He is 4 too. No allergy testing, I have removed the wheat (gluten and for the most part) of their diet. In fact, all of our house is free of wheat since January and the change has been incredible. People can not believe that the change in him! Now people say it is a pleasure to be with ….. and I am very happy. I should point out I've also taken other supplements (omega-3, probiotics and a super food called Ionix) I think it is wheat. I have yet to try and milk. Why Why not try one of those eliminated in the country for 3 months. It will not cost $ $ and certainly does not hurt. There is a lot of information / resources online for this very thing. Good luck!

panic attack message boards
What is the difference between Xanax and Generic Alprazolam?

I recently read Xanax user reviews on message boards and they all seem to agree that there IS a real difference between the brand Xanax and generic Alprazolam. They all say Xanax works way better.
I’m on generic Alprazolam for panic attacks (2mg a day) and never found it to really be helpful.
Just slightly…could it really be that the generic brand is not as effective?
Has anyone ever tried both the Xanax & generic brands and noticed a difference?
I don’t understand why there would be any difference?

People on the message board who took Xanax were all anxiety sufferers and took less than I do…and yet they were saying it worked wonders…I take more than them and I’m still super anxious and panicky.
Poisonous? Avice, are you serious? Seems to me that’s would be unlikely…there are governmental bureaus who’s job is to monitor that stuff.

they probably work the same ..all the pills on earth wont take away all anxiety or panick attacks it does take the edge off tho.. you take a xanax you watch news on tv it will still make you anxious.. xanax is good.. poisonous… GOD>>>>>?????
